TOUCHED™ — The Stories Behind the Touch
TOUCHED™
The Stories Behind the Touch
A fingerprint is where the story begins. But the meaning of TOUCHED reaches beyond the individual imprint.
These stories explore the significance of human connection, the individuality of the human fingerprint, and the craftsmanship involved in transforming an authentic imprint into a sculptural work of sterling silver.
Each story reveals another dimension of TOUCHED.
The Meaning of Touch

A hand reaching for another. An embrace. A gentle touch on the shoulder. Some of the most meaningful expressions of human connection happen without words.
Touch can communicate affection, reassurance, comfort, and belonging. It is part of how we connect with one another and how we express what words sometimes cannot.
At the heart of TOUCHED is this simple idea: human connection is something we experience, share, and carry through everyday life.
The Human Imprint

Look closely at a fingertip. Its surface is formed by delicate ridges that flow, curve, end, and divide, creating an intricate pattern.
The familiar loops, arches, and whorls are only part of the story. The smaller details—the paths and branching points of individual ridges—give each fingerprint its own distinctive character.
No two people have exactly the same arrangement of friction ridge detail.
A fingerprint is more than a mark left behind. It is an individual human imprint, as personal as the hand it belongs to.
Beyond the Image

A photograph captures the visible pattern of a fingerprint. TOUCHED takes that pattern further.
Rather than reproducing an image on the surface of metal, the individual ridges and valleys are developed into a three-dimensional sculptural relief.
The result has depth, texture, and dimension. Light moves across its raised contours, revealing details that a flat image cannot convey.
The fingerprint is no longer simply seen. It becomes a sculptural surface, handcrafted in sterling silver.
From Fingertip to Silver

Every TOUCHED™ piece begins with an authentic fingerprint impression, captured at our Gettysburg studio by appointment.
From that impression, a wax model is developed, carrying the distinctive ridges and valleys of the original imprint.
Using the traditional lost-wax casting process, the wax model is transformed into sterling silver.
The piece then returns to the bench, where it is shaped, refined, and polished by hand.
From fingertip to finished silver, each commission passes through a series of careful, hands-on steps. One imprint. One individual creation.
The Artist's Hands

An authentic fingerprint provides the starting point, but it takes an artisan's hands to bring it into silver.
The imprint is carefully developed in wax, with its individual ridges and contours at the center of the work. After casting, the silver is shaped, refined, and polished by hand.
This is patient, close work, guided by the character of the original imprint and by the decisions made at the bench.
Each finished piece reflects both the individuality of the imprint and the care of the hands that shaped it.
One Imprint, Many Possibilities

A single TOUCHED™ imprint can become the beginning of more than one creation.
An optional silicone mold can be made from the original wax master. It allows additional wax reproductions to be created while retaining the distinctive details of the original fingerprint.
Each reproduction can become the foundation for another sterling silver piece, making it possible to share the same personal imprint with family members or others who share that connection.
The mold also offers the possibility of creating additional pieces in the future.
One original imprint. Many possibilities for connection.
