The Eternal Peace Light Memorial, of Peace Light, was dedicated on July 3rd, 1938, as one part of the ceremonies for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Approximately 1800 Union and Confederate veterans attended the 75th Reunion, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the monument with a nine-minute speech.
